How do I customise the appearance of my application bar?

Users of Lexacom can customise the appearance of their application bar.

You can choose which items appear, and how much space is assigned to media summaries (that show details about your current job). You can remove items that you do not use, or to improve the appearance on smaller monitors.

To change which items appear:

  • Go to the Menu > Settings
Image of the Settings option in the Lexacom menu
  • Select Application Layout, and find the Application Bar Item Control

  • Either:
    • Click the Select All button to show all available items

Or

    • Click the Deselect All button to hide all available items

Or

    • Select or deselect individual elements from the list

The available items are:

  • Import Audio – this button allows you to import audio into Lexacom from folders and supported devices like Digital Voice Recorders.

  • Audio Markers – these buttons allow you to set bookmarks within the audio on a job, and to select a marker to jump to this point.

  • Playback Speed Control – this button allows you to change the speed that Lexacom plays audio (either slowing this down, or speeding this up), and to set the amount of automatic rewind when playing audio.

  • Audio Control – these buttons and the progress bar allows you to play and/or record audio, control the position within the audio, and change recording mode. It is still possible to record or play audio using hardware controls if this control is hidden. It is not recommended to hide this control if using workflows with audio media.Image of the Audio controls
  • Actions – these buttons allow you to cancel, save, or progress the job to the next workflow step. These buttons are also available in the Lexacom window.

  • Notifications – this section shows counts of jobs in your Review grid and allows you to filter your review grid by the different categories.

In addition to these items, the application bar can show a summary of the media (like the Reference, Priority etc.) on your current job. These can be useful to see at a glance, and you can also edit these directly from the application bar.

To change the media that appear:

  • Open a job on
  • Go to the Menu > Settings
Image of the Settings option in the Lexacom menu
  • Select Application Layout, and find the Application Bar Media Controls
Image of the Application Layout tab
  • Set the proportion of the application bar used to show the summaries by changing the width You may set this to 10, 25, 50, or 75% of the application bar.Image showing the Width of Application bar control
  • Set whether the media are open for editing by default – if switched on, the media will start in the edit mode, like this:

  • Set the media that appear. Either:
    • Click the Select All button to show all available media

Or

    • Click the Deselect All button to hide all available media. If you deselect all media, the application bar media controls will not appear on your application bar.

Or

    • Select or deselect individual elements from the list

The available media will reflect the workflow on the open job. You may choose to have different media controls visible for different workflows, even if they have the same media.
