What are Recording modes?

If your workflow allows you to record dictation, you will be able to change the Recording Mode. The Recording mode controls how new audio is recorded at your current position.

Lexacom has 4 Recording Modes:

Insert Image of the Insert recording mode icon Audio is inserted in the current position. No audio is overwritten or deleted. The progress bar will be green.
Truncate Image of the Truncate recording mode icon Audio after the current position is deleted, and the new recording appended. The progress bar will be red.
Overwrite Image of the Overwrite recording mode icon Audio after the current position is overwritten by the new audio (similar to an analogue cassette). Original audio in excess of the new audio is unchanged. The progress bar will be orange.
Automatic Image of the Automatic recording mode icon Automatic mode changes the recording mode based on the current position within the audio. Within the last 10s of the audio, Truncate mode will be used. In the body of the audio (>10s from the end), Insert mode will be used.

To change between recording modes, either

  • Click on the recording mode icon

or

  • Press the INS/OVR button on your microphone

In each case, this will cycle to the next recording mode.
