What is a workflow?

A workflow is a structured sequence of steps that data and tasks follow from creation to completion. The data can take many forms; many of our workflows include audio dictations, but they can include video to be processed, or collections of forms and attachments.

Whether they involve a single author or typist, or multiple stages of review, workflows are carefully designed to optimise efficiency, maintain accuracy, and suit different requirements.

Our most popular workflows include automatic speech recognition, applied in a number of ways. We also offer a range of dictation and review workflows as standard.

Workflows with automatic speech recognition

Workflows with automatic speech recognition

Lexacom’s EchoScribe is a deferred speech recognition service that automatically transcribes recorded audio into text.

This gives seamless integration with existing transcription workflows, reducing the effort needed to complete tasks and maintaining accuracy.

Unlike Lexacom Echo, which operates as a live speech recognition tool, EchoScribe processes pre-recorded audio for later review and completion.

EchoScribe
The simplest workflow, designed for scenarios where no author review is required.

  1. An author records a dictation.

EchoScribe automatically generates a transcript from the audio.

  1. A typist reviews the transcript, makes any edits needed, and marks the job complete.

Author review
For clinicians who wish to review and approve their transcriptions before they are finalised.

EchoScribe automatically generates a transcript from the audio.

  1. A typist reviews the transcript and makes any edits needed.
  2. The author reviews the transcript and either approves it or returns it for amendments.
  3. The typist places the finalised text into the clinical system, and marks the job complete.
